THE PHENOMENON

Our book Beyond Photography was first published in December 2006 by O Books. It was the first book in the world to document one couple’s encounters with paranormal phenomena and to examine anomalous light phenomenon in any detail. This was followed by Orbs & Beyond in 2016.

Our work in this field has subsequently been followed by many other books by various people. There are many beliefs about what orbs may be, ranging from the ludicrous to the scientifically reasonable. Equally there are also many uninformed sceptical misconceptions about both orbs and paranormal phenomena in general.

In our experience, orbs are part of a wide range of interconnected phenomena which included: Orbs, Luminosities, Light-Forms and Light Beings. To try and convey the essence of what we have witnessed and photographed we have used various terms such as: Orbs, Sprites; Light Beings etc. But all these terms are merely descriptive – not definitive.

We are all on a learning curve in the area of paranormal phenomena. Unfortunately some will categorically tell you that orbs are: angels, aliens; spirits of the dead, unborn spirits etc. etc. Beware. These are all opinions – not facts!

All we can honestly say is that nothing in our own experiences incontrovertibly confirms any such views.

Photographing Paranormal Phenomenon

Everything we can naturally see or photograph falls within the visible light wave length of 4000 to 7000 angstroms, sandwiched between ultra violet and infrared in the electromagnetic spectrum. For anything to be seen or photographed, if only for a fraction of a second, it has to be within the visual spectrum and is therefore part of the normal world.

This raises the question as to whether photographs of ghosts, orbs or whatever, can truly be said to be supernatural because at the very moment we photograph them, they are already part of our natural reality.

Whatever generates the visual interface with our reality to make such phenomena visible and photographable is beyond detection by methods currently available. But if Oneness is a reality and all things are connected this should not be surprising.

In our experience we encountered an unfolding phenomenon. Retrospectively we can see a progression at work which brought more clearly into focus the indications of a wider connecting reality interfacing at times with our own.

We may be just walking along, minding our own business, when for no apparent reason a piece of the universal puzzle falls right in our path. Whatever it is, we can choose to ignore it or to walk round it – or we can choose to try and figure out where it fits.

Whenever we do that, as puzzling as it is and as incomplete as our answers may be, we are no longer mere bystanders in life, but active participants in the mystery and wonder of Existence.

No phenomenon whether normal or paranormal exists in isolation. However it manifests, it is always connected at some level to everything else that forms Reality as we all experience it.

Some circular images appearing on photographs may be due to ordinary effects: sunlight striking the lens, rain drops, reflections, or flash feed-back. But it does not take more than simple observation to realize which photo-anomalies are ordinary events and which are not.

Orbs and light spheres have been photographed by all kinds of cameras: film, digital, analogue video, even by mobile phones and CCTV. Most people have photographed orbs with digital cameras solely due to the proliferation of digital technology but they have even been discovered on old film negatives. Anomalous orbs and spheres seem to have been around a very long time.

In Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass”, Alice stepped through the looking glass and found herself in a world far different to that of 19th Century rationalism. Today as we look at in the mirror of Quantum Physics: Dark Energy and Dark Matter we see a world far removed from the neat rationality of Newtonian physics. We have crossed over from materialist physics into metaphysics in which paranormal and psychic phenomena operate.

These two aspects of reality were deliberately separated during the enlightenment. Physics was the sole province of science and metaphysics the province of religion.

Today in the 21st century the two are now connected again – just like the two halves of the Ying Yang symbol. This is exactly what the phenomenon we were encountering indicated. Both consciousness and the paranormal are a reflection of a wider reality connected by the intrinsic Oneness of Existence.

The blanket promotion of secular materialism seems little different to the indoctrination of Earth-centred pre-Copernican thinking. But as physics and metaphysics connect we are drawn into a wider cosmic perspective.

This is happening at many levels to many people today.

The deeper we looked into the phenomenon of orbs, spheres and light-forms we were encountering the more were drawn towards the concept of Oneness.

Indications reminding us of Oneness are all around us; from ancient circles in the landscape, sacred geometry, the Tai Chi and Triquetra symbols, and right through to modern day crop formations reflecting circular symbolism.

All material and energetic processes are connected by the primal reality of Oneness that for us was reflected in the orbs and spheres we were photographing.

Encounters with paranormal light phenomenon are not restricted to any one person or epoch. Every religion in the world began with mystical or paranormal experiences. Often these included spheres of light, visions and visitations by what some describe as angelic beings of light. Such encounters are not always subjective experiences witnessed only by one or two people.

In Fatima Portugal on 13 October 1917 the Miracle of the Sun was witnessed by over 60,000 people when a luminous sphere of light swept over the crowd. This aerial phenomenon was also witnessed several miles away.

Many photographs were taken there and Fatima is one of the best documented appearances of luminosities, beings of light and other paranormal light phenomenon. All of which were similar to phenomenon we and many others have also witnessed and photographed.

Orbs, spheres and circles are universal symbols which have a deep resonance in the human psyche. As such they cross the boundaries of religion and beliefs. All across the world they are universal symbols for: God, Oneness and Unity. In our times the most important symbol of Oneness is the orb of our own world seen from space. For here on this small blue planet is everyone you have ever known or heard about; all our history, all our dreams, all our hopes.

Can it be any mere coincidence that such phenomenon and circular symbols are appearing more frequently now at just the time when humanity collectively needs to reconnect with Oneness? At all levels connections are being made which reaffirm that we all share the same Spirit of Life and that Oneness underpins all diversity as a universal reality.

Like quantum phenomenon, both paranormal and psychic phenomena are indicators of a wider reality reflecting the interconnectedness of all things in the intrinsic Oneness of Creation.
